Do you ever feel we should do more as a community to welcome those fleeing war and persecution?
Volunteering with DAR makes a real difference in the lives of refugees and asylum seekers in Darlington and the North East.
Our volunteers come in many different guises. Everyone brings their own unique set of skills and qualities to the team. We share a strong commitment to promoting social inclusion and empowerment based on compassion and the recognition that we are all equal.
If you, too, share this commitment and want to become part of our team, there are many areas of work in which you could get involved: teaching English, fundraising, and organising events, to say a few. So whether you are a great cook, a teacher, a manager, or a fantastic listener, we are excited about whatever you could bring on board!
We also need people who can help with house moves, sourcing furniture and appliances, and most importantly, who can offer their time: time to visit, sit and listen, go to the park with, to be there when difficulties arise, a shoulder to cry on a person to share the joy with.
Volunteering with us could make a difference in your own life as well.
DAR allows volunteers to exchange ideas and share experiences with delightful, admirable people whose lives would not normally intersect with ours. It is a privilege to meet and work with them.
